# OpenFabrica

> OpenFabrica is an open-source workshop on GitHub (https://github.com/OpenFabrica) that builds native desktop apps, developer tools and local-first software for makers, builders and creatives. Started by Mike (@daveylan2 on X, rambocode on GitHub).

Principles: native first (Swift/AppKit on macOS, Rust where it counts), local first (no forced accounts, no silent uploads), open by default (source on GitHub), built alongside AI coding agents.

- [Glimmer 微明](https://github.com/OpenFabrica/glimmer): Cross-platform input method in Rust (derived from Qingjian). Sentence-level pinyin with local-model reranking, inline translations for language learners, bundled Wubi codebooks. macOS, Windows, Linux. GPL-3.0-or-later.
- [MailFabrica](https://github.com/OpenFabrica/mailfabrica): Native desktop email client in Rust with an egui interface, HTML email rendering and theme-based grouping, inspired by Foxmail.
